Our Mission

Government, academic, business, and community leaders are collaborating to use technology as a tool to improve outcomes for residents, businesses, and institutions, alike. Smart Cincy is a working group dedicated to building smart cities and connected communities throughout Greater Cincinnati's Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana Region. Smart Cincy efforts put people, not products, at the forefront of planning and technolgoy standards and planning guidelines are in line with IEEE Smart Cities Technology and Planning Standards, which, coincidentally, were co-produced by Venture Smarter, Nexigen, and University of Cincinnati leaders, meaning Cincinnati has an impactful role in smart city development across the nation and around the world.

Smart Cincy represents a regional working group of leaders from across Greater Cincinnati dedicated to building an interoperable region of connected smart city solutions that reach beyond municipal boundaries. These efforts lean on the four pillars of smart city planning: connectivity, mobility, security, and sustainability. These solutions use technology and innovation to create accessible, equitable economic development and social mobility opportunities for residents regardless of socioeconomic or geographical barriers, enhancing workability and livability in our region. Smart Cincy is a nonprofit organization supported by government, academic, and business leaders throughout Greater Cincinnati. The group is working to research, plan, fund, and implement smart city solutions supporting shared community goals and visions. Smart Cincy has received thousands of signatures on the letter of support, hosted dozens of community engagement events, and successfully launched the first Smart Cincy thought leadership summit this past Spring. Join us in October at the Smart Regions Conference complete with Drone Racing and the Midwest’s first IoT and Innovation Showcase.

Collaboartion drives smart city success stories

Working with leaders and community members to research, plan, fund, and deploy smart city solutions to improve the quality of life for people in Greater Cincinnati.

“Smart Cities:” It’s more than just a couple of buzzwords.

It’s about using big data to guide our planning practices. It’s about mobilizing technology to create cities that are more livable, workable, attractive to talent, and friendly to business. It’s about implementing best practices that are replicable, affordable, and sustainable.

But there’s a problem: Scope.

The purpose of the Smart Cincy Summit is to dive into that problem. We’ll bring leaders from the public and private sectors together to educate, share ideas, hear concerns, and align goals. We’ll officially introduce the world to the Regional Smart Cities Initiative, and we’ll establish our country’s first Smart Region.
